Technology Leads

This year, our school is doing an initiative to make sure that we use technology with more fidelity. Although I am a big proponent of using technology, I wanted to make sure that I am using it in a way that is making the lesson better, not just using technology to say I'm using technology. My boss even has a person coming into school who is, for lack of a better term, a tech guru in our district. Today during my meeting, I told her about how my sixth grade has just finished working out writing our own mythologies using the Hero's Journey as a template. The students had a choice to create a podcast or a comic strip. For the Podcast, my students used an app called Anchor. This is such an easy app to use. The student could create small clips that are all put into one longer episode. We listened to the first one today and the rest will be released as the week goes along. I Finally Did It!

One of my goals has been to open a TPT store. Today, I finally did it! There are only three products up, but they are the ones that people ask me about on Instagram most often. My goal is to make more products to add as the months come, especially when summer comes. If you are looking for some posters, I have two sets available. The first one I have is for Nonfiction Text Structures. These go through the different structures and include a black and white version that can be used as a graphic organizer if you would like. The second resource I added is for literary elements. These are posters that my students use daily. They like to make sure they know what they are expected to do while working on different graphic organizers. What I'm Teaching This Week

Teaching four grade levels can be difficult. I think the thing that is the most helpful and keeps me the most sane is the fact that I can print from my computer to the copier. I am also very fortunate to have a wonderful secretary who allows me to have kids get my copies randomly if I forget. Like most teachers, I love Instagram. I am on it too much a lot trying to get ideas for my classroom, but I miss the idea of reading through a blog to find a little bit more information on what is REALLY going on in the classroom. Because of that, I am starting this up again. I moved over to Wordpress for awhile, but I hated that format. This is way more my speed. So, I will try to highlight what is going on in my classroom. I am working on making more of my own resources, but I will also highlight those of other teachers that I use. Fifth grade is starting Maniac Magee.
